Melting Butter: NYC Restaurant Find - Claudette
For those of us who are too time poor or cash-strapped for a quick hop across the pond to Europe this summer, a visit to Greenwich Village’s Claudette is the next best thing to a dalliance in Southern France.
Inspired by Provençal cuisine, a region blessed with an abundance of fresh fruits, seafood, meat and wine, Claudette’s menu highlights local produce mingled with the heady aroma of North African herbs and spices, which are typically found in the Provençal kitchen.
The dining space is airy and inviting, with a palette of white painted walls; touches of rustic accents (we love the reclaimed wooden floorboards) and a mish-mash of tiled mosaics combining European sentiment with North African exoticism. Wash down a bottle (or two) of red with a hearty meal and an even heartier dessert with close friends and families for a taste of France without leaving Manhattan’s doorstep.
