Subject Line: Is Your EV Charging Infrastructure Legally Sound?
Hello,
There goes another week of quarantine done and dusted, as we adjust to our โnew normalโ. As with all things, tough times are only temporary, and this unprecedented crisis has given us space to reflect on ourselves, our collective actions as a society and most of all begs the question - what will life look like after this?
The emergence of e-mobility has changed the way people travel and move. Electric Vehicles (EV) are one part of this network, and are a great way of reducing one's carbon footprint. From a consumer point of view, charging an EV vehicle looks simple enough - simply plug and play. However, thereโs so much more that goes into putting together an EV charging system than meets the eye. Systems aside, there is a mish-mash of regulations and codes to comply, which can quickly feel like putting together one of those 1000 piece puzzles that have swiftly gained popularity now that weโre in lockdown.
I wanted to make it easy to understand the current regulatory landscape for EV charging infrastructure and to simplify the process of establishing a transparent and tamper-proof billing process for vehicle owners using charging stations. Iโve written a white paper titled "How Measurement and Calibration Law Affects EV Charging Infrastructure" for this exact purpose, which drills down into all of the components that make up a sound charging infrastructure โ everything from creating and verifying signed meter values, invoicing and tariff regulations, and even how and what your meter display should look like. I also offer some practical solutions on how to set up your charging infrastructure for full compliance.
This white paper is housed in my Knowledge Base, a treasure trove of resources dedicated to e-mobility. Since EV charging is such a new playing field, my goal is to make it easy for you to grasp the fundamentals and I take great pride in updating this regularly to ensure you are ahead of the curve.
I encourage you to take the time to read through these resources and feel free to reach out anytime with any questions.
Best,
Marc
